Shri Radha Bal Leela Madhuri · Pad 8

māya! de chandra khilaunahiṁ lāya

Original pad by Jagadguru Shri Kripalu Ji Maharaj

English meaning

The little Kishorī Jī says, “Oh Mother! Bring Me the moon-toy.” Placing Her hand on Her mother’s chin, Kishorī Jī lisps to her whimperingly, “Oh Mother! I will play only with the moon. I like it a lot. So long as you don’t get Me the moon, I won’t eat butter nor will I talk with you. I will make someone else My mother. I will never put on any jewellery, will throw away all My clothes and run away to My friends’ house. I don’t care a hang as to who lives in your house in My place.” Realizing her daughter’s stubbornness, Mother Kīrti brought a mirror and showed the reflection of the moon in it. Knowing the reflection of the moon to be the real moon, the innocent little Kishorī Jī shrieked with intense joy and tried to catch it with Her tiny hands repeatedly. Jagadguru Shrī Kripālu Jī says that when She could not catch it anyhow, She started murmuring something in anger, hanging Her face down.
