Original pad by Jagadguru Shri Kripalu Ji Maharaj
English meaning
Mother Yashodā has become very irritated, listening to the series of complaints made by the gopīs about child Kṛishṇa. Today, full of anger, she is standing with a stick in her hand, saying, “Let Kanhaiyā come, I will set Him straight today.” It was not long before Kṛishṇa came in, but seeing His mother red with anger and with a stick in her hand, He immediately turned around and started running as fast as He could in the opposite direction. Mother Yashodā pursued Him. Child Kṛishṇa is running ahead and Mother Yashodā, following close behind, is trying her level best to catch up with Him but she is not able to overtake Him due to her old age. Wanting to find out whether or not Maiyā had given up, child Kṛishṇa turned around, but finding Mother Yashodā even more angry than before due to exhaustion, He fell down in confusion, crying due to fear of the stick. Maiyā caught hold of the weeping Kanhaiyā and tied Him to the mortar. But as soon as she ran to beat Him with the stick, the gopīs rushed and stopped her. Little Kṛishṇa is crying out most piteously to anyone who can hear Him, “Please save Me from Maiyā’s stick! Someone save Me!” His whole body is shivering due to fear and a continual flow of tears is gushing forth from His eyes. The gopīs, who were full of love for Kṛishṇa, said to Mother Yashodā, “Your Kṛishṇa does not really steal butter from my house. I was just joking and you took me seriously!” Jagadguru Shrī Kripālu Jī says, “Even I could not bear to see such a pitiful condition of Shrī Kṛishṇa, and throwing myself at Mother Yashodā’s feet, I started crying, which meant, ‘Oh Mother, enough is enough, now please set Kanhaiyā free.”
