haṭa kholo na, ghuṁghaṭa paṭa, o naṭakhaṭa!

Original pad by Jagadguru Shri Kripalu Ji Maharaj

English meaning

Scolding Shyāmasundara, who is making mischief on the occasion of Holī, a sakhī says, “Oh naughty Shyāmasundara! Go away, don’t raise my veil. Look, my sister-in-law is going ahead of me and my mother-in-law is coming behind. If they see all this, the quarrel will be aggravated. Besides, they will complain about this to my husband who will immediately rush here with his lathi. Then, after receiving a good thrashing from him, You will enjoy the real taste of holī, because my marriage has taken place just two days ago. Beating by him will leave You stupefied.” In the words of Jagadguru Shrī Kripālu Jī, the sakhī tries to make Shyāmasundara understand by adding, “Although it is true that You are the Supreme husband of all individual souls, yet this place, where You are at present, is the strange world of māyā; this is not Your divine abode, Goloka.”
