haṭa lipaṭa na, nipaṭa yamuna-taṭa pai
Original pad by Jagadguru Shri Kripalu Ji Maharaj
English meaning
Tired of Shyāmasundara’s mischief during the days of Holī, a sakhī says to Him, “Oh Shameless One! Move aside. Don’t embrace me on the bank of the Yamunā. Oh Naughty One! Leave my añchala. Look, the sakhīs standing on the panaghaṭa are watching us with slanting glance. The other day, You forcibly twisted my wrist and broke my pitcher, hitting it with Your staff. One day, You forcefully rubbed gulāla on my cheeks and broke my pearl-chain. Although You are my beloved, such behaviour of Yours which is contrary to the decorum of the world will blemish our love.” Jagadguru Shrī Kripālu Jī says, “Blessed is the love of this sakhī who on the one hand, surrenders her everything to Shyāmasundara and on the other hand, rebukes Him as well. And also blessed is that infatuated Shyāmasundara, who sacrifices Himself even on such behaviour.”
