shyāmā-shyāma dhāma-vṛindāvana, sarasa prema-rasa vipina bahāvata
Original pad by Jagadguru Shri Kripalu Ji Maharaj
English meaning
Beloved Lords, Shrī Rādhā and Kṛishṇa, are showering sweet divine love in Their divine abode, Vṛindāvana. The night is beautiful with full moon of autumn, and Bhagwan Kṛishṇa is playing on His flute with crores of gopīs. Listening to the enchanting music of the flute, even the liberated self-realized souls forget their anahadanāda and trance, thinking them to be hindrances. When Shyāmā-Shyāma were thus showering the bliss of divine playfulness, and dancing and singing songs, Bhagwan Kṛishṇa’s earrings got entangled in Kishorī Jī’s braid and Kishorī Jī’s besara got entangled in Bhagwan Kṛishṇa’s vanamālā. Both of Them were amused at this and started laughing slowly. After this, as soon as Lāla Jī started disentangling the entangled things, He was in a great trouble. The trouble was that Lād̤alī Jī saw Her reflection in Her Beloved’s chest. Innocently thinking it to be some other beloved of Shyāmasundara, She assumed māna, and immediately left the place in anger. She sat at a distance, resting Her chin on Her hand, and Her eyebrows creased in anger. Beloved Kṛishṇa was very much afraid and went with Lalitā sakhī to pacify Her. He started persuading Her with earnest entreaties, with His hands folded and His eyes full of tears. But again seeing the same damsel in Beloved’s heart according to the previous illusion, Kishorī Jī was even more angry and said, “Oh Shameless one! You have come to show Me Your face with that same darling of Yours again?” Lāla Jī was greatly confused and started shedding tears. He knew not what to say. Then, acting according to the clever instructions of Lalitā, Beloved Kṛishṇa wore red od̤hanī, and covered the lustre of His chest. Jagadguru Shrī Kripālu Jī says, “Seeing Lāla wearing red od̤hanī and not finding the previous damsel, Kishorī Jī smilingly looked at Shyāmasundara with the corner of Her eyes, and embraced Him.”
