Virah Madhuri · Pad 209

hāya! mohiṁ pala chhina biraha satāvata

Original pad by Jagadguru Shri Kripalu Ji Maharaj

English meaning

(A virahiṇī’s fierce battle with (the agony of) separation through divine arrows.) The virahiṇī exclaims, “Oh! Oh! The separation from beloved Shyāmasundara is constantly torturing me. When Separation burns me, attacking me with the arrow of fire, then I extinguish the arrow of fire with the arrow of water (Varuṇāstra) in the form of continuous flow of tears from my eyes. Thus defeated, Separation gets angry and again attacks me with the arrow of the cluster of clouds quickly raining hot tears, using the unjust policy of war; then I quickly put even that down attacking it with the arrow of air in the form of my deep sighs (Pawanāstra). But Separation returns, this time arrayed with spring and attacks me with the arrow of cool, gentle and perfumed breeze, from which I protect my life through the arrow of snake by placing lotus-pedicels on my chest. Thus in order to save my life which is actually a possession of my Beloved, I constantly fight in the battlefield of my body. But” Jagadguru Shrī Kripālu Jī pleads to Shyāmasundara, “oh Beloved! Now You come immediately and protect this possession of Yours Yourself, otherwise the unbearable agony of separation will snatch this life away and I will be blemished greatly for not being able to protect somebody else’s possession.”
