Virah Madhuri · Pad 208
hāya! morā, piyā binu jiyā ghabarāye
Original pad by Jagadguru Shri Kripalu Ji Maharaj
English meaning
After Shyāmasundara’s leaving the gopīs and going to Mathurā, a virahiṇī describes her lovelorn state to her intimate friend, “Oh friend! My heart is feeling extremely restless without beloved Shyāmasundara. Oh friend! He had promised to come back within two days but it has been years since He left us, and even now His two days are not finished. Oh friend! How and for how long should I console my heart? And even if I try to do so, how can the mind which has become Beloved’s and gone to Him, understand me? Even the nectarean sweet words of my most intimate friends appear to be poisonous to me. One moment I come in the house and the next, in the hope that ‘Beloved might be coming’, I rush out of the house, but nowhere do I find any rest.” Jagadguru Shrī Kripālu Jī says, “Oh virahiṇī! Don’t be restless or disappointed. The cry of your heart is bound to affect Shyāmasundara’s heart sooner or later, and then, He will be compelled to come.”
