shyāma binu, bhaī shyāma hauṁ vīra!

Original pad by Jagadguru Shri Kripalu Ji Maharaj

English meaning

A lovelorn gopī says to her friend, “Oh sakhi! I have become black in Shyāmasundara’s separation. I burn unceasingly in the intense fire of separation. My heart refuses to be at peace no matter how hard I try. On the one hand, the fire of separation burns me, and on the other, my eyes continuously shed tears. Therefore, this fair-complexioned body of mine neither completely burns down nor extinguishes, rather keeps on smouldering without any cease. Oh sakhi! Who else can understand the agony of my heart except my beloved Shyāmasundara?” Jagadguru Shrī Kripālu Jī says to the virahiṇī, “Not only is your body black, but your heart is black also. If you do not believe what I say, tear your heart open and see yourself. You will find black Shyāmasundara sitting in it.”
