shyāma! hauṁ yogini bhesha banaihauṁ

Original pad by Jagadguru Shri Kripalu Ji Maharaj

English meaning

A virahiṇī says, “Oh Shyāmasundara! Now, in order to meet You, I will put on the guise of a yoginī (an ascetic woman). Leaving aside all the proprieties and duties of the world, the Vedas, and the family, I will practise meditation concentrating between the eye-brows. I will bind the matted hair on the head and smear ashes all over my body. Covering myself with the patched quilt and taking a beggar’s bowl in my hand, I will gradually dry up my body through strict fast, renouncing food and water. Putting on the guise of an ascetic, I will cry the slogan, ‘Alakha-Alakha’ (Unperceivable Brahma) from house to house, like Shaṅkara Jī.” Jagadguru Shrī Kripālu Jī says, “If even after doing all this, the Beloved does not show mercy and bless me with His sight, I will destroy myself in the fire of yoga.”
