lagī rī mohiṁ, shyāma-dṛigana kī choṭa
Original pad by Jagadguru Shri Kripalu Ji Maharaj
English meaning
A virahiṇī gopī says, “I have been injured by Shyāmasundara’s piercing eyes. Now, if He disappears from my sight even for one moment, I become extremely restless and I don’t even have any sleep in my eyes. Though the fault was of my own senseless eyes, for they dared to look at the infinitely sweet figure of Kṛishṇa, my pranas were guiltless. Yet, just as, sometimes, innocent people have to suffer for others’ faults, in the same way, my pranas, too, suffering for the offence committed by these eyes, are pining to meet Shyāmasundara. Even my heart betrayed my pranas and sided with the eyes, destroying the fort of traditional family conventions. Now, burdened with the pangs of separation in my heart and continuously shedding tears, I am wandering in each and every grove to meet my beloved Shyāmasundara.” Jagadguru Shrī Kripālu Jī affectionately says, “Oh, this son of Nanda is as evil as He is small.”
