Virah Madhuri · Pad 160
lāga ura, hāya viraha kī āga
Original pad by Jagadguru Shri Kripalu Ji Maharaj
English meaning
A maiden suffering the pangs of Shyāmasundara’s separation says, “Oh sakhi! My heart is set on the fire of Shyāmasundara’s separation. In the world, a forest conflagration extinguishes all by itself after burning down the thing concerned, but how amazing this is that the fire of Shyāmasundara’s separation continues to smoulder day and night. I am doused and drenched in torrents of tears daylong and spend the night sleeplessly. The glamour of worldly opulence does not attract me at all. To add to this, even the sense of propriety has abandoned me.” Jagadguru Shrī Kripālu Jī says, “Oh sakhi! The agony of separation which you are thus criticising is unavailable even to paramahansas; hardly one fortunate paramahansa among crores attains it.”
