Virah Madhuri · Pad 153

raina-dina, nainana chaina parai na

Original pad by Jagadguru Shri Kripalu Ji Maharaj

English meaning

A virahiṇī says, “Oh sakhi! These eyes refuse to be at peace even for a moment without seeing Shyāmasundara. Oh sakhi! Since the time Shyāmasundara made me drink the nectar of divine love through His ogles which were sharp but boundlessly blissful, I feel neither hungry nor thirsty nor am I able to sleep at nights. Due to the fear of public slander, I sing the praises of my Beloved’s beauty, sweetness etc. only in my mind. Even the love-laden words of sakhīs sound bitter to me. Sometimes I forget myself in the bliss of the Beloved’s sweet union and sometimes it is the pain of His separation that makes me completely oblivious of myself.” In the words of Jagadguru Shrī Kripālu Jī, the sakhī adds, “Thus even after drinking the ambrosia of love, equally mixed with nectar and poison, I am unable to quench my thirst even in the least, instead, it intensifies every moment.”
