rahī sakhi! bāta tora yā mora
Original pad by Jagadguru Shri Kripalu Ji Maharaj
English meaning
One sakhī says to another in Shyāmasundara’s separation – “Tell me, Oh sakhi! Whose words have come true - yours or mine? That day you were declaring beloved Shyāmasundara to be extremely tender-hearted. But have you seen? He has become so deeply engrossed in Kubjā after going to Mathurā that He has forgotten you completely. Now tell me, whether the Beloved is overly soft-hearted or hard like crores of thunderbolts?” The other sakhī replied, “Oh sakhi! Had not the Beloved been infinitely tender-hearted, then you think yourself, how could a hunchbacked woman allure Him who surpasses the beauty of even innumerable Kāmadevas?” Jagadguru Shrī Kripālu Jī says that the first sakhī acknowledged her defeat and said, “What you said is proved true, i.e. Shyāmasundara is really very soft-hearted.”
