bedaradī! kyoṁ itano itarāta?
Original pad by Jagadguru Shri Kripalu Ji Maharaj
English meaning
One lovelorn gopī in an agitated state, reprimands beloved Shyāmasundara – “Oh cruel-hearted one! Why are You putting on so much airs after having accepted me as Your own? Oh Heartless one! The only thing I want You to do for me is to look at me smilingly just once. What will You lose by doing just this much? You are betraying the very eyes through which You gained entrance to my heart by making them restless. Are You still not satisfied after robbing me of everything I possessed, and afterwards burning even the house (my heart)? The soul would have left my body long ago, had it not been for the weeping eyes craving to see You, looking at which the soul, even after reaching the throat, stopped to wait for You for few more moments.” Jagadguru Shrī Kripālu Jī, speaking on behalf of the sakhī advises Shyāmasundara, “Oh Shyāmasundara! You are causelessly merciful. Why then, do You wish to be called cruel-hearted? If this gopī happens to lose her life, yearning in the grief of Your separation, You will be defamed forever.”
