papiharā, pāpī mohiṁ satāya
Original pad by Jagadguru Shri Kripalu Ji Maharaj
English meaning
A virahiṇī, hearing the voice of a papīharā, imprecates it in the following way: “The fire of separation from my Beloved has already burnt me. Why are you, then, intensifying my grief by aggravating this fire even more? I myself am passing one moment of my Beloved’s separation like a kalpa. Oh papīharā! What enmity do you have with me that even at midnight you speak ‘Pī, Pī,’? Even you experience unbearable pain of separation from the clouds of Svāti constellation. Why then, do you, after having well experienced this pain for yourself, annoy me like this? What do you gain by doing this to me?” Jagadguru Shrī Kripālu Jī advises the virahiṇī, “Oh virahiṇī! Close your ears with your fingers (to avoid the ‘Pī, Pī,’ of the papīharā), because nobody can win evil-minded ones in the world.”
