gaye kita, gopana taji gopāla
Original pad by Jagadguru Shri Kripalu Ji Maharaj
English meaning
(The lamentation of cowherd-boys after Shyāmasundara’s departure to Mathurā.) Oh Gopāla! Where have You gone forsaking us all? All Your cowherd friends are extremely desolate without You. They neither eat nor drink but only wreathe garlands of tears in Your separation. They call out to You repeatedly, saying, ‘Oh Kanhaiyā!’ and then, fall down in a swoon due to unbearable grief. And they state, “Hāi Kanhaiyā! Please come back and embrace us just once and then go back if You so desire. You will repent if You delay in coming here, for You will not find us alive.” In the words of Jagadguru Shrī Kripālu Jī, (the cowherd boys add), “Oh Nandalāla! You are the soul of our souls. How, then, can the soul exist without You?”
