gaye kita, godhana taji gopāla
Original pad by Jagadguru Shri Kripalu Ji Maharaj
English meaning
The heart-rending lamentation of the residents of Braja after Shyāmasundara’s departure to Mathurā – Oh Gopāla! Where have You gone abandoning Your cows, which were dearer to You than Your very life? Now, who will tend the cows without You? Come and see the condition of these cows at least. They are bellowing in Your separation as if saying, ‘Oh Gopāla! Come.’ These cows have stopped grazing grass and drinking water of the Yamunā, and yearn for You day and night. They unceasingly shed tears and have become mere skeletons in Your separation. In the words of Jagadguru Shrī Kripālu Jī, “The state of even the calves is exactly as pitiable as that of the cows.”
