kyoṁ bāta banāvati nāgarī?

Original pad by Jagadguru Shri Kripalu Ji Maharaj

English meaning

A virahiṇī addresses her intimate friend, “Oh sakhi! Why are you talking so much? The maiden, whose heart is ignited with the fire of separation, cannot sleep a wink throughout the night. She becomes oblivious of her body. Even her modesty abandons her. There burst forth, as if the fountains of tears from her eyes and she continuously burns in the fire of separation. Mad with love, she sometimes dances, and sometimes sings in the intoxication of love.” In the words of Jagadguru Shrī Kripālu Jī, “She alone, whose heart burns in this fire of separation, knows what it is. You have not loved anyone that is why you are giving this lecture.”
