ojhāī kari ojhā gaye hāra

Original pad by Jagadguru Shri Kripalu Ji Maharaj

English meaning

Seeing a lovelorn gopī, her parents thought that she had been possessed by some evil spirit. So they called exorcists to exorcise her. They came and tried all conjuring tricks until they were fully exhausted. At this, a friend of the gopī says to an exorcist – “Oh exorcist! Your knowledge is very limited. In fact, you are very dull-witted and ignorant. Oh exorcist! The one, who is possessed by the ghost of the son of Nanda, cannot be cured through exorcism. Yes, you can cure a person possessed by some other spirit by this hocus-pocus. You know nothing about the matters of love. Both of these - the one possessed by some ghost and the other, possessed by the divine ghost of Shyāmasundara, look alike. The body of both of them manifests the same symptoms like stupefaction, perspiration, horripilation and tremor, and both remain intoxicated. Both of them sometimes weep, sometimes laugh, sometimes dance, sometimes sing and both of them remain oblivious of their body.” Jagadguru Shrī Kripālu Jī says that although the external symptoms in both of them are uniform, yet there is one very great difference between the two. And that difference is, a ghost takes away the life of the person it possesses, whereas the ghost of Shyāmasundara gives even His own life for the soul He possesses, and in doing so, feels indescribably happy.
