Virah Madhuri · Pad 2

aṁkhiyāṁ, shyāma-prema-rasa-mātī

Original pad by Jagadguru Shri Kripalu Ji Maharaj

English meaning

A virahiṇī says, “Oh sakhi! My eyes are impregnated with the wine of Shyāmasundara’s love. Ever since the moment my eyes fell on Shyāmasundara’s slowly smiling form, I have been unable to experience even momentary peace. I writhe in the agony of separation day and night. I try to make these worthless eyes understand in various ways but they refuse to listen to me and continuously shed tears remembering that bewitchingly beautiful swarthy face. Oh sakhi! Now, the opulence of Baikuṇṭha also has lost all charm for me, nor does salvation attract me even in the least.” In the words of Jagadguru Shrī Kripālu Jī, “I have accepted defeat before these stubborn eyes; now you make them understand.”
