Hori Madhuri · Pad 29
horī khelo rī, chhaila saṁga raṁga ghorī
Original pad by Jagadguru Shri Kripalu Ji Maharaj
English meaning
On the occasion of Holī, a gopī tells her intimate friend about her secret plan against Shyāmasundara. She says, “Let us mix some colours in the water and play holī with Shyāmasundara. Let us drench Him completely with different colours, together. Today, we should all give Him a hard time and daub rolī on His cheeks thoroughly. One gopī should snatch away His pītāmbara, and another, His flute. Then, let us all challenge Him together to come and play holī with us, shouting, ‘Horī hai! horī hai!’ (i.e. It is the fun of holī! It is the festival of holī!).” Jagadguru Shrī Kripālu Jī advises the sakhīs, “If even after all this, Shyāmasundara does not get defeated, attack Him with your love-laden looks.”
