Hori Madhuri · Pad 18

raṁga ḍāro rī, vīra! muralī-vāro

Original pad by Jagadguru Shri Kripalu Ji Maharaj

English meaning

One sakhī, on being completely drenched with colour by Shyāmasundara, complains about it to her friend. She says, “Oh sakhi! That flute-player bathed me in the colour today. I had gone to fetch water from the panaghaṭa when all of a sudden, that wayward son of Nanda came there. He had placed on the shoulder a pichakārī wrapped up in His yellow silken shawl. As always, I thought it to be His staff. When after filling my pitcher with water I started off for my home, He suddenly came in the way and aiming at my heart, threw colour with His pichakārī. Before I could place the pitcher on the ground and run to grab Him, that ‘Naughty one’ ran into the creeper-groves.” In the meantime, Jagadguru Shrī Kripālu Jī said to the sakhī, “Why didn’t you immediately pour the water filled in your pitcher on His head? Everything is justified in Holī.”
