raṁga ḍāro na, kānha! dauṁgī gārī
Original pad by Jagadguru Shri Kripalu Ji Maharaj
English meaning
On the occasion of Holī, Shyāmasundara is standing, holding a pichakārī filled with coloured water in His hand. A gopī, stopping Him from throwing colour on her, says, “Oh Shyāmasundara! Do not throw colour on me, otherwise I will shower abuses on You. You do not know that I am a married woman, and my mother-in-law and sister-in-law will defame me. Please go away from me, I pray to You with folded hands. Look, all the gopīs are watching us! You are totally unaware of the mundane affairs. This is not Your divine abode, Goloka. Moreover, You are very ill famed in Braja. If my short-tempered husband comes to know about our meeting, he will in no time strike You with his lathi.” Jagadguru Shrī Kripālu Jī says, “While talking to Shyāmasundara in this manner, that clever gopī suddenly snatched away the pichakārī from Shyāmasundara’s hand!” What happened after that, the poet leaves to the imagination of the reader.
