yaha horī hai, lalī! yā barajorī
Original pad by Jagadguru Shri Kripalu Ji Maharaj
English meaning
Tired of Shyāmasundara’s pranks during the days of Holī, a sakhī complains to Kishorī Jī, ‘Oh Kishorī Jī! Is this Holī or highhandedness? Whenever that naughty Shyāmasundara finds any maiden alone, He drenches every part of her body with colour. That we should be thus tortured in Your kingdom, is a disgrace to Your father, king Vṛishabhānu.’ Hearing this, Kishorī Jī ordered all the sakhīs to fill their pitchers with saffron water and drowning their pichakārīs in them, start for the river Yamunā on the pretext of filling water. She further instructed that one sakhī should stand exactly in the middle of the path and the rest of the sakhīs should hide themselves behind the creepers. As soon as that Naughty one starts teasing that sakhī, all the sakhīs should surround Him simultaneously from every side. Afterwards, they should completely drench Him with colour concurrently and besmear His cheeks well with gulāla. Then all the sakhīs, holding Him firmly and tying Him with a rope, should bring Him to My palace. In the words of Jagadguru Shrī Kripālu Jī, Kishorī Jī says, “Then I will behave with Him arbitrarily and say to Him, ‘Now tell Me how did You like the festival of Holī?”
