Hori Madhuri · Pad 13

yaha horī hai, arī yā horā hai

Original pad by Jagadguru Shri Kripalu Ji Maharaj

English meaning

Tired of Shyāmasundara’s loving gestures during the days of Holī, one newly-wed bride says, “Oh God! Is this the festival of Holī or a free-for-all? Even to step out of the house has become difficult, how horrible this village is! Not only the body but also the mind of that naughty Nandalāla is black. Still, His Mother Yashodā calls her son extremely innocent. Oh sakhi! He does not walk alone, but is always accompanied by thousands of cowherd boys. I got married just yesterday and today only, He held me and shook me violently. He took off my veil, tore my blouse and started saying, ‘Oh sakhi! Tell Me, wouldn’t we two make an excellent pair?’ Then, He unhesitatingly rubbed gulāla on my cheeks and drenched me completely with coloured water through pichakārīs. Afterwards He said, ‘If your husband asks who has bathed you in colour, tell him that it was your beloved.” Jagadguru Shrī Kripālu Jī says, “Oh newly-wed bride! Why are you launching a false complaint? We all know very well that He has captured your heart.”
