chalyo sakhi! asa pichakārina raṅga
Original pad by Jagadguru Shri Kripalu Ji Maharaj
English meaning
(A gopī’s description of a colourful day of Holī to her friend.) Oh sakhi! Today, such a great quantity of colours was thrown through pichakārīs that the blue body of Shyāmasundara, the enchanter of even Kāmadeva became multi-coloured. And sakhi! various musical instruments such as small timbrel, mṛidaṅga, upaṅga etc. were also being played very uniquely. Thousands of teen-aged gopīs were chorusing the songs of Holī. Drowned in the waves of Holī and divine love, the maidens of Braja were throwing colour on every part of Shyāmasundara’s body through pichakārīs. In the words of Jagadguru Shrī Kripālu Jī, the gopī adds, “Just then, seeing the strange countenance of all, Manasukhā, feeling inebriated with love, said: Today, all the gopīs have drunk an excessive quantity of bhaṅga, together.”
