Murali Madhuri · Pad 9
shyāma! torī, muralī ne juluma karī
Original pad by Jagadguru Shri Kripalu Ji Maharaj
English meaning
A gopī complains to Bhagwan Kṛishṇa, “Oh Shyāmasundara! Your flute has caused a lot of trouble. Its melody has made terrestrial as well as celestial beings forget themselves, and has terminated even Bhagwan Shaṅkara’s nirvikalpa trance. This flute has completely destroyed the protocols of the four-fold classification of society and life, established by You. Although it belongs to the humble bamboo family, lives in the forest, has eight holes, is hollow and naked, still it puts on airs upon seeing us.” Jagadguru Shrī Kripālu Jī says, “The flute is not to be blamed at all. The entire fault lies with Shyāmasundara who has made it so cheeky by constantly pressing it to His lips.”
