māninī! māna kī bāna burī
Original pad by Jagadguru Shri Kripalu Ji Maharaj
English meaning
The words of Lalitā, who is trying to please māninī Kishorī Jī- Oh Kishorī Jī! It is not a good habit that You thus get annoyed with Shyāmasundara again and again. Beloved Shyāmasundara’s eyes have become the honey-bees of Your beauty. They do not let Him sit peacefully at all, without You. Beloved Kṛishṇa is about to die, and now, being separated from You, He does not even remember His flute which is dearer to Him than His life. He repeatedly laments, ‘Hā Rādhe! In which grove have You disappeared?’ Oh Kishorī Jī! Like a knife drowned in poison, Your habit of doing māna makes both of You cry. Therefore, leave this habit. Jagadguru Shrī Kripālu Jī says, “Just like the lightning which cannot exist without clouds, it is impossible for both of You to live without each other.”
