hāya dai! uṭhati kareje hūka
Original pad by Jagadguru Shri Kripalu Ji Maharaj
English meaning
One gopī confides to her intimate friend about her first meeting with beloved Shyāmasundara. “Oh! I am experiencing stabbing pain in my heart. Oh sakhi! The only mistake my eyes committed is that they suddenly saw Shyāmasundara today. No sooner did I see Him than He pierced me with the arrows of the sidelong glances of His luscious eyes. Attacked by the arrows of His sidelong looks of love, I immediately fell on the ground like a wounded doe and my heart was broken into two pieces. Now the sixteen (traditional) adornments seem to me like a burden and even the sweet melodious voice of the cuckoo pains me like poison.” Jagadguru Shrī Kripālu Jī advises the gopī, “Oh sakhi! You should not disclose all this to anybody for the bliss of love is indescribable like the taste of something eaten by a dumb man.”
