sakhi! piya-musakani mana bhā-gaī
Original pad by Jagadguru Shri Kripalu Ji Maharaj
English meaning
A sakhī’s description of her first encounter with Shyāmasundara. Oh sakhi! My heart became enchanted by the Beloved’s smile. I had been safe till now, but today even I was deceived like others all of a sudden. I had gone to see the lofty waves of the river Yamunā with friends. There, one of the friends challenged that there is one such smile, seeing which no woman can save her honour. I said, ‘You were innocent to blemish your devotion to your husband.’ Just then, Shyāmasundara came there smiling and lo! no sooner did I see that smile than I lost this world and the world beyond. Jagadguru Shrī Kripālu Jī says, “Oh sakhi! What is your ability? Even Bhagwan Shaṅkara’s trance has sunk into this smile.”
