yaha yārī hai, hāya yā baṭamārī

Original pad by Jagadguru Shri Kripalu Ji Maharaj

English meaning

A gopī’s first meeting with Shyāmasundara and her description of it to her intimate friend – Oh sakhi! What will you call this, love or robbery? Today, Shyāmasundara said to me, ‘Oh sakhi! Let me see what it is in your eyes.’ Being innocent, I could not infer what He meant and opening my eyes, as soon as I showed them to Him, He poured divine love into them through His eyes. Oh sakhi! How to tell you what happened afterwards? That was it! Inebriated with love, I forcibly lost my heart to Him. Now even the bliss of the four kinds of liberation seems insipid without seeing that lotus-eyed Shyāmasundara. Jagadguru Shrī Kripālu Jī says, “Oh sakhi! The secret of this robbery is that Shyāmasundara is the one and only beloved of all individual souls and because of being causelessly merciful, He imparts love forcibly.”
