base re mere, nainana piya! tere naina
Original pad by Jagadguru Shri Kripalu Ji Maharaj
English meaning
A sakhī’s humorous talk with Shyāmasundara – Oh Beloved! Your eyes have made my eyes their abode. I am not so much afraid of their residing in my eyes as I am of their ogles. Again, even the fear of the ogles themselves is not as fierce as the fear of their being sharp. The problem is when I want to take those sharp ogles out of my eyes, the eyes stop me from doing so, saying that although these ogles are certainly pointed, yet they are laden with immeasurable bliss. So, don’t take them out even by mistake. Now these piercing side-long looks of love are pricking my eyes every moment refusing me even momentary peace. Jagadguru Shrī Kripālu Jī says that after becoming a victim of this incurable disease once, it is impossible to get rid of it by any means whatsoever.
