kou jani, jāhu jamuna asanāna
Original pad by Jagadguru Shri Kripalu Ji Maharaj
English meaning
A sakhī humorously warns her friends, “Oh sakhi! None of you should go to bathe in the river Yamunā. One magician by the name of Shyāmasundara casts His magical spell on whosoever goes to the panaghaṭa. That stealer of heart hypnotises all by the sweet music of His flute. If the hypnotising music of His flute fails to captivate a maiden, He steals away her heart by attacking her through His piercing sidelong looks of love. Yesterday, even the cleverest sakhī Lalitā lost her body, mind and very self to Him.” In the words of Jagadguru Shrī Kripālu Jī, the sakhī adds, “Oh friends! When even Lalitā could not escape His enchantment, what will happen to other sakhīs can easily be guessed.”
