dekhu sakhi! sāvana māsa bahāra

Original pad by Jagadguru Shri Kripalu Ji Maharaj

English meaning

Oh sakhi! Look at the affluence of the month of rain! The adolescent Divine Couple (Shrī Rādhā-Kṛishṇa) is swinging on a swing in the newly built beautiful groves. With one hand, They are holding the rope of the swing and with the other, garlanding each other’s neck. Inebriated with love and looking at each other, They both are giving pushes to the swing together with Their lotus-feet, bending and swaying with excessive joy. Kishorī Jī’s blue dress and Shyāmasundara’s yellow garment are fluttering in the air, while Their curly tresses are mischievously swaying to and fro. Both of Them are singing the song of swing together in the raga Malhāra and sakhīs are singing grace notes (tānas) and augmentations (ālāpas). Surpassing one another in the art of playing various musical instruments, the maidens of Braja are playing on different musical instruments like vīṇā, flute, etc. Seeing this enchanting scene, Jagadguru Shrī Kripālu Jī acclaimed, “Victory! Victory to both our Lords! Balihāra! Balihāra!”
