Original pad by Jagadguru Shri Kripalu Ji Maharaj
English meaning
The poet says, “Actually, the beauty of Kishorī Jī’s face is incomparable, therefore, the very effort of comparing it with something is embarrassing me. Even then, I want to say something. It seems that the moon, in order to save his life from Rāhu, has become Kishorī Jī’s face. The round halo of the rays of the new moon has become Her red lips. Kishorī Jī’s forehead is the half-moon and the rest of the face is the full moon. Thus, Kishorī Jī’s face is made of one and a half moon. The blackness within the moon has become the eyebrows of Kishorī Jī.” The poet Shrī Kripālu Jī further says that although the poets generally compare Kishorī Jī’s face with the moon and the lotus flower, it is absolutely wrong. The moon and the lotus flower can never stand in any comparison with Kishorī Jī’s face. Because, the moon has got his beauty after begging it from his friend, the mirror; and the lotus has got it from his father, the water. And the water and the mirror both have got it from Kishorī Jī Herself. When Kishorī Jī looked at Her face in the mirror, the mirror stole away the reflection of Kishorī Jī’s face, and the same was done by the water when Kishorī Jī’s face, at the time of bathing etc., got reflected in it. Thus, after stealing away the reflection of Kishorī Jī’s face, the mirror and the water gave it to their friend, the moon, and the son, lotus respectively at their request. Since then, the lotus and the moon beautify the atmosphere during day and night respectively. Then, how can they become the objects of comparison for Kishorī Jī’s face? Jagadguru Shrī Kripālu Jī says, “The moon seems to be again practising severe austerities on Shaṅkara Jī’s head to get the boon of being called as beautiful as Kishorī Jī’s face. Although he has been reduced to only two kalās, he is still persistent in his obstinacy.”
