Shri Radha Madhuri · Pad 42
lalī-mukha, lakhi lājata shṛiṅgāra
Original pad by Jagadguru Shri Kripalu Ji Maharaj
English meaning
Seeing the beauty of Kishorī Jī’s face, even Beauty is feeling ashamed of itself. The buds decorated on Kishorī Jī’s curly hair seem to be mocking at all the comparisons of those curls. It seems as if the curls themselves have taken the form of the buds. Again, the curly hair on Kishorī Jī’s head are looking so beautiful that it seems as if they are the uneven waves of the river Yamunā, drawn by the plough of Balarāma Jī in Hastināpura. And the flat golden ornament on Kishorī Jī’s forehead seems to be the lightning produced out of the black clouds of Kishorī Jī’s hair. If somebody objects to this simile saying that lightning is never steady, but the flat golden ornament is steady, the answer is that even that unsteady lightning has become steady after becoming immortal by drinking the nectar contained within the full-moon of Kishorī Jī’s face. The collyrium in Kishorī Jī’s eyes is like the bowstring to win the Supreme God, Shrī Kṛishṇa. Jagadguru Shrī Kripālu Jī most humbly says, “I am proving myself ignorant by giving similes for the incomparable face of Kishorī Jī.”
