Shri Radha Madhuri · Pad 24
pyārī torī, veṇī-laṭaka ati pyārī
Original pad by Jagadguru Shri Kripalu Ji Maharaj
English meaning
Oh Kishorī Jī! The beauty of Your swaying braid is extremely charming. The braid is thick, black and very curly. It seems, as if the darkness, chased away by the full moon of Kishorī Jī’s face, itself is hanging in the form of the braid, bound and thrown towards the back. Once the weight of a peacock’s tail stood in competition with Kishorī Jī’s hair and tried to prove its superiority, arguing at length. Failing to arrive at any meaningful conclusion, both of them went to Brahmā Jī, the Creator. Finding no comparison at all between the peacock-feathers and the beautiful hair of Kishorī Jī, Brahmā Jī pushed the weight of the peacock’s tail away with his hand very disgracefully. That is why one now sees the mark of a hand looking like the half-moon on a peacock-feather. Jagadguru Shrī Kripālu Jī says, “All the things with which Kishorī Jī’s braid is compared are material while the braid itself is divine and immaterial. Therefore, the beauty of this braid is beyond all comparisons.”
