Shri Radha Bal Leela Madhuri · Pad 14

kuṁvari! jā khelu latāna tare

Original pad by Jagadguru Shri Kripalu Ji Maharaj

English meaning

On being asked the meaning of the word ‘engagement’ by little Kishorī Jī, Mother Kīrti, scolding her daughter with great love, says, “Oh Lālī! Why are You unnecessarily bugging me? What will You do by knowing the meaning of engagement? Go and play in the groves.” But Kishorī Jī does not listen to Her mother. She stamps Her tiny feet on the ground voicing ‘Ūm Ūm’ and wrangles with her, shedding tears from Her eyes. Seeing Her childish tantrum, the Mother said to Her, “O.K. Fine. I will tell You the meaning of engagement in Your ears, but don’t tell it to anyone else.” Then she whispered to Her, “See Lālī! Just as You perform the marriage of Your male and female dolls; in the same way, You will be married to Nandalāla.” Jagadguru Shrī Kripālu Jī says that hearing this, the innocent little Kishorī Jī began to laugh, shrieking with extreme joy and said jumping, “Oh Mother! Then get Me married right away.”
