piyā! mohiṁ kaba hvaihau dukhadāī?

Original pad by Jagadguru Shri Kripalu Ji Maharaj

English meaning

Oh Beloved (Shyāmasundara)! When will You become painful to me by providing me with the pain of Your separation? The pain of separation which maidens of Braja experienced could not be attained even by Mahālakshmī, although she went through severe austerities for crores and crores of kalpas for the same. Oh Beloved! If You bless us with the love-seed of that same sweet pain of separation, we will plant it in our heart and water it continuously with the tears of our eyes. The air and the heat required by that plant to grow will be provided by us in the form of the long sighs heaved by us in Your separation and the fire of that separation respectively. Thus, helped by the aforementioned water, air and heat continuously, when that seed is transformed into the form of a big tree, let it provide me with this fruit that even a moment of separation is literally felt by me like a kalpa. Jagadguru Shrī Kripālu Jī says, “If someone, due to ignorance, wonders as to what the use of such a bitter fruit after such a hard labour is, then the answer is that, the reception of this fruit will make the virahiṇī perceive her own Beloved in each and every particle of this movable and immovable world. For example, as Sūradāsa says, the gopīs saw only their Beloved, Shyāmasundara, wherever they looked (Jita dekhūṁ tita Shyāmamaī hai).”
