kahāṁ hari! gaī kṛipā kī bāni

Original pad by Jagadguru Shri Kripalu Ji Maharaj

English meaning

Oh Shyāmasundara! Where has Your wont of being causelessly merciful gone? The Vedas, Shāstras, Purāṇas and saints declare You as a donor without cause. Why then do You place a condition for obtaining Your grace, enunciating spiritual practices like chanting, devotion, etc.? Oh Shyāmasundara, everyone tells that You are naturally affectionate, ocean of mercy and reservoir of bliss. If You say, ‘Why don’t you give me what I ask for?’ then its straightforward answer is that we are not ready to admit that a divine lord like You should require anything from us, the worthless souls. Jagadguru Shrī Kripālu Jī says on behalf of Shyāmasundara, “You are speaking the truth, but if you actually believe from the bottom of your heart that Shyāmasundara is a causeless donor and naturally affectionate, He will gratify you immediately.”
