Siddhanta Madhuri · Pad 118

suno mana! eka kāma kī bāta

Original pad by Jagadguru Shri Kripalu Ji Maharaj

English meaning

Oh mind! Listen to a matter of great importance. Some maintain that it is impossible to get rid of desires without practising devotion to Shyāmasundara, while some declare the impossibility of attaining Shyāmasundara through devotion without first being emptied of desires. In my opinion, the holders of both these views are naive. What actually should be done is, surrender all your desires in Shyāmasundara’s lotus-feet. Then, says Jagadguru Shrī Kripālu Jī, those very desires will gradually change into this one desire. ‘When will I meet Shyāmasundara?’ Thus, the two contradictory principles - destruction of desires and devotion to Shyāmasundara - will be banded together.
