sakhī! kou eka bāta samujhāya

Original pad by Jagadguru Shri Kripalu Ji Maharaj

English meaning

Oh sakhi! I want someone to make me understand one thing. In the world, whatever love exists between married couples, tends to decrease every moment. This is not what I have heard from others. Even I have husband, son, sisters, brothers, etc., so what I am saying is a fact of my experience. But the love of the sakhīs for Shyāmasundara keeps on increasing every moment. (Why is it so?) The sakhī replied, “Oh sakhi! All worldly souls are under the bondage of māyā. Their body, mind - everything is material. They are also selfish because of having been bereft of supreme happiness since time immemorial.” In the words of Jagadguru Shrī Kripālu Jī, “but the body, mind – everything of your beloved Shyāmasundara is divine and He is absolutely contented. He does not have any self-interest to be fulfilled through any individual soul, because He is eternally full of divine love. Therefore, the love for Him increases every moment. Another reason is that Shyāmasundara’s divine body has the special quality of appearing imbued with ever new beauty every time you see it, therefore you never feel contented.”
