bhajo mana! nishi dina nandakumāra
Original pad by Jagadguru Shri Kripalu Ji Maharaj
English meaning
Oh mind! Practise devotion to Shyāmasundara unceasingly. He alone is your real friend in the entire world. The friendship of worldly wife, husband, son, friend, etc. whom you regard as your confidants is based only on selfishness. On the other hand, observe the friendship of Shyāmasundara! He gave the extremity of the opulence of the two worlds - heaven and earth - to Sudāmā, the penurious brahman who had been His boyhood friend, merely in exchange for the two handfuls of rice which He forcibly took from the latter, and still remained unhappy as to why Rukmiṇī, His wife, stopped Him from giving to Sudāmā the opulence of even the nether world. And look again at the mercy He had on the hunchbacked woman of Mathurā, Kubjā, in transforming her into a lovely damsel and giving her the treatment deserved by His wife, Lakshmī. Jagadguru Shrī Kripālu Jī says, ‘Oh mind! Why are you missing this opportunity in spite of knowing all this? This human body is not frequently obtainable’.
