Siddhanta Madhuri · Pad 40

chalu prema nagara kī gaila re

Original pad by Jagadguru Shri Kripalu Ji Maharaj

English meaning

Oh mind! Walk on the path which leads to the city of love. Why are you unnecessarily taxing yourself like a drudge for the objects of senses? Even after trying crores of means, one cannot extract oil from sand. Likewise, it is impossible to get even the waste of purified butter from water even after churning it for crores of ages. Oh mind! Bhukti (the desires for the pleasures of this world and the world beyond) and Mukti (the desire for becoming one with God by merging into Him) are two extremely powerful witches. Jagadguru Shrī Kripālu Jī says, “Therefore, Oh mind! Practise unceasing devotion to the darling of Kubjā, Shyāmasundara.”
