Siddhanta Madhuri · Pad 7

are mana! avasara bītyo jāta

Original pad by Jagadguru Shri Kripalu Ji Maharaj

English meaning

A devotee is addressing his mind, “Oh my mind! The golden opportunity is slipping away. The life with which you are blessed is soon going to come to an end. Even the governors of this universe, Brahmā, Vishnu and Shaṅkara are under the control of Death, what to speak of you? You have been blessed with the human body that is like a pārasa (the mythological stone which turns iron into gold) and is inaccessible even to heavenly gods, yet due to ignorance, you are wasting this precious life, being enamoured of the artificial beauty of the worthless worldly objects. Like one who is both deaf and blind, you neither listen to the teachings of the saints, nor see the illusory nature of this world yourself, and are constantly being intoxicated with worldly pleasures. You have always been saying ‘I will do it after this, I will do it after this’, but you will regret your procrastination when one day death will overtake you and it will be too late to do anything.” Jagadguru Shrī Kripālu Jī says, “In the twinkling of an eye, man falls dead; why do you leave spiritual practice for future? What power do you possess to stop death which you are so proud of?”
