Prakirna Madhuri · Pad 18

liya phāṁsī gale mahaṁ ḍāra, aba kā socha kare

Original pad by Jagadguru Shri Kripalu Ji Maharaj

English meaning

Oh sakhi! You yourself have put a noose around your neck, why do you repent now? I had already warned you to be aware of the crafts of that deceitful Kṛishṇa, but you turned a deaf ear to me and went to love Him. Why then, do you weep now? Oh sakhi! Now, like a wooden-pot kept on a furnace, you are fit neither for home nor for society. But, let bygones be bygones! Do not repent for what has already happened. Now there seems to be only one companion of yours, and that is the cry of woe. Shyāmasundara has already spoiled the whole game, so what is the use of crying now? Oh sakhi! One should not fear the resultant injury after putting one’s head into a mortar by one’s own free will. In other words, if a person deliberately exposes himself to risks, he should also be prepared for their consequences. Jagadguru Shrī Kripālu Jī says, “We offer ourselves on this divine love between the soul and the supreme soul! There is nothing to repent in this love; only the most fortunate ones are blessed with it.”
