dhani-dhani tina braja-gopa-badhūṭina, jinako chākara brahma sadāya
Original pad by Jagadguru Shri Kripalu Ji Maharaj
English meaning
Blessed are those maidens of Braja whom the Supreme Lord Shyāmasundara Himself serves as a servant. Some gopīs go to Shyāmasundara’s house on the pretext of complaining against Him to Mother Yashodā. Some appease their eyes with His bewitching sight on the way itself. From some, He deliberately keeps away, thus making them suffer the pangs of separation and feels beside Himself with joy, listening to their abuse of love ‘dārī ke’. To serve them, Shyāmasundara goes to the panaghaṭa everyday and helps all the gopīs in lifting their pitchers onto their heads. If any gopī comes all-alone from her home, He not only lifts up her pitcher but also escorts her to her house. Some gopīs feed butter to Shyāmasundara with their own hands while from some, who feel shy in doing so, He takes the butter and eats it Himself. Yet, there are some who check Him outwardly but long in their heart for Him to bless their butter as well. The omniscient Lord eats it by pillaging it from them. Some candid gopīs themselves talk with Shyāmasundara quite openly and smilingly. Some are bashful. With those maidens, Shyāmasundara talks Himself. There are also some, who are restrained from coming out of their house by their elders. In order to meet them, says Jagadguru Shrī Kripālu Jī, He Himself goes to their house and, teasing them in various ways, gets the titles of a thief and a flirt.
