sunī sakhi, hai kou ika bhagawāna
Original pad by Jagadguru Shri Kripalu Ji Maharaj
English meaning
In Shyāmasundara’s separation, an innocent gopī says, “Oh sakhi! I have heard that there is one God who can fulfil everyone’s desire. So, let’s weep in front of Him alone, beseeching Him for granting us a boon. When He says, ‘Ask for a boon’, let’s tell Him, ‘There is one Shyāmasundara of Braja. We loved Him exclusively but He has abandoned us now.’ Then say, ‘Oh God! Without Him, even a moment appears to us as long as a kalpa. So give us some such boon which enables us not to think about Him even by mistake.” The other sakhī responded, “Oh sakhi! What I have heard is that Shyāmasundara Himself is God. There is no other God besides Him.” Jagadguru Shrī Kripālu Jī comments, “The maidens of Braja are trying to banish that same Shyāmasundara from their heart, yearning for whose tiny flash in their heart, the yogis strive for ages through trance. The love of gopīs is really absolutely ineffable!”
