Virah Madhuri · Pad 138
mādho! tuma mohiṁ bhale paṭhāye
Original pad by Jagadguru Shri Kripalu Ji Maharaj
English meaning
Engrossed in the bliss of divine love, Uddhava, the leader of the gyānīs of his age, says to his friend, Shyāmasundara with a taunt, “Oh Shyāmasundara! Well, did You send me to impart knowledge to the gopīs! I had gone there to become their guru, but have returned as their disciple. The knowledge, which You had sent me to impart to them, got swept away in the boundless ocean of their divine love. I was the expounder of the philosophy that name and form are false but, began to glorify the name, form and attributes of the Supreme Lord, myself. I had carried mere dry knowledge with me but I returned frenzied, drinking the nectar of divine love.” Jagadguru Shrī Kripālu Jī humorously says to Uddhava, “All this is fine, but it is very lamentable that you subjected knowledge and yoga to great fun.”
