ūdho!, taju advaita vichāra
Original pad by Jagadguru Shri Kripalu Ji Maharaj
English meaning
Advising Uddhava, who was proud of his knowledge, the maidens of Braja state, “Oh Uddhava! Abandon your non-dualistic philosophy. Accept the dualism of Brahma and the individual soul. The one who creates, protects and destroys the world is Brahma according to the doctrine of the Veda. Listen carefully to the various differences between an individual soul and Brahma as told in the Vedas. The individual soul is pervaded (because Brahma pervades it) and Brahma is pervading. The individual soul is servitor and Brahma is the Lord (and it is impossible to attain Brahma without this servant-master sentiment.) Further, the individual soul is only a part whereas Brahma is the whole. The individual soul is the son and Brahma, the father. The individual soul is the inspired and Brahma is the inspirer. The individual soul is as minute as an atom, and Brahma is all-pervasive. The individual souls are innumerable in number, whereas Brahma whom you consider to be your friend is only one. Moreover, the individual soul is very feeble, while the Brahma is all powerful.” Jagadguru Shrī Kripālu Jī says, “Oh Uddhava! Now, your non-dualistic philosophy has been refuted by many logical proofs. Therefore, accept dualistic philosophy and worship Shyāmasundara, the Supreme Brahma with form, realizing Him as your master (lord) and yourself as His servitor.”
